What is an Ultrasonic Open-Channel Flow Meter?
The Ultrasonic Open-Channel Flow Meter is an advanced flow measurement device specifically designed for open channels such as irrigation channels, streams and stormwater systems. It operates using ultrasonic level sensing technology, measuring the liquid level and calculating flow rates based on pre-defined channel formulas. Its non-contact measurement approach ensures no obstruction to flow, enhancing reliability and reducing maintenance.
The meter’s ultrasonic sensor transmits pulses toward the liquid surface and measures the echo return time to determine water level. A built-in temperature sensor compensates for air temperature variations, ensuring consistent accuracy. Using the measured level ("head"), the flow meter calculates instantaneous flow (Q) with channel-specific formulas.
